7 months already!

It's so crazy that A.T. is already 7 months old as of three days ago. It's gone so fast, I can't believe it.

I really need to do some more baby-proofing, this time more than just outlet covers. I now have to move my spice basket that he likes to get into (it's on the bottom shelf of the butcher block table). It always seemed like those kind of changes were forever away but our little boy is already quite the explorer.

We love you Alan and couldn't imagine life without you--you're over halfway to 1 year, big boy!

Squirrel Huntin

So Mike had taken up squirrel hunting. Yep, he's gone country!

After a few practice endeavors (read: unsuccessful hunting trips) he finally got one--right in the head.

He promptly came home and declared that dinner would be ready soon. Then he cut off its head, skinned it, gutted it, and froze it. He does plan to eat it but is researching his recipes currently.

Pullin Up

Alan has started pulling up on everything, literally. He tries to pull up on toy mounds no matter how big or small, my legs when I'm on the floor with him. Today he pulled on the baby gate that leads to the mudroom and he pulled up on the crib railing.

I'm not quite ready for this yet for two reasons: 1) he's much harder to watch and thereby keep out of trouble and 2) he's growing way to fast. He's beginning to officially leave baby-hood.

Where has the time gone? He'll always be my sweet little baby though, no matter what stage.

Little Pianist

Grammie and Grampy gave A.T. this adorable piano and he absolutely loves it. We love watching him play with it, after hitting the keys a dew times he usually turns it over in an attempt to chew on it.

Check up

We had Alan's 6 mo check up the other day. He was a charmer of course! Look at how he helps the dr hold the stethoscope!

He's doing great! The pediatrician said she's very happy with his growth and skills. He's still exclusively breastfed and we are loving every moment of it.

Big Boy!

A.T. and I went grocery shopping today and as usual he got tired of bring in his seat about a third of the way through.

So I took him out of the car seat and put him on my hip. At 18+ lbs he's pretty heavy to hold like that so I soon attempted to put him back; motion over-ruled.

I then got a great idea: why not try the front of the cart? So I moved the car seat to the bottom of the cart and plopped A.T. in the cart seat.

He was very confused at first and a little wobbly but oh so cute. I took about 25 pictures and everyone walking through the aisle must have thought I was crazy. He lasted 5 to 10 mins and was then done. So we tried the hip again.

We'll see how it goes next time. I guess I'm finally getting to the point where I no longer carry him around in his seat. Wow! Time has flown!

Christmas in Atlanta

We spent Alan's first Christmas in Atlanta with all of Mike's family. It was wonderful! A.T. had a great Christmas and made ours so much richer and sweeter than ever before.

We gave him two Dr. Seuss board books, a Teddy bear, and a wooden doughnut stacker. He likes to chew on the rings and books, the Teddy he's not quite sure of yet.

Mike gave me an awesome book on identifying antique furniture and a universal double boiler. I really wanted the double boiler so I could make a bourbon chocolate sauce which we really like.

I love that Christmas lasts for 12 days following Christmas eve, it's wonderful to soak up the graces and joy of Christ's birth for more than one day!
