Postman Alan

One of the many gifts Alan got for Christmas from Grammie and Grampy was a Melissa and Doug mail box. As you can tell from the photo he might have a career as a mailman in his future.

Our New Ukrainian Catholic

This past weekend Rosie received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion. But the festivities started before this weekend. About a week before the baptism Margaret and I (as well as Rosie) met with Father for our baptism class. There Margot was "churched" and Roise had the "prayer of naming"

Then on Saturday the big day arrived.

First Rosie was made a catechumen at the back of the church. Then Father carried her in a purple cloth (representing original sin) to the front of the church.

She was then baptized and vested in her baptismal clothes.

We did not get any photos of the Chrismation (confirmation for you Roman Riters) or First Holy Communion.

Straight from Elvis

I never thought I would live in a place so remote that the US Postal Service would not deliver to my address. However, every now and again it does have it's perks. For example if you do try and send me snail mail via USPS to my physical address you will get something straight out of an Elvis song.

Another day another loaf

My adventures into bread making continue. The first time I made the white bread I did not like how it came out in flat oblong loaves. While it was still good to eat it left something to be desired when it came to making sandwiches. That is where the USA bread pan comes into play.

The pan is deep and unlike normal bread pans the sides are stright so the bread does not become fatter as the bread rises.

The results of using this pan are as follows.
This is something that is much better suited for sandwithces. Here is one more image of the new loaf next to an old loaf.

Story time with Daddy

Every evening (well, that's the goal) Mike reads A.T. a bedtime story and then mommy futily tries to settle Alan down for bed.

White Bread

I was a little bored today so I decided to venture into the world of bread making. I started with a simple white bread from the Fanny Farmer Cook book. It came out a lot better than I was expecting. Here is a picture of the results:

I know it is not the best picture, but maybe some day I will have an iphone.

No power

Some one must have sneezed in south Georgia cause we have been out of power for the last 4 hours. Any time the wind blows down here the power normally goes out. On the plus side it is only going to get into the fiftys tonight so we should stay nice and warm.

A Themed Christmas!

This year Margot decided to go for a Themed Xmas tree. I think it came out well.

Fires

There is nothing like sitting down and enjoying a nice glass of good bourbon and a fire on a cool Sunday night.

I was able to buy a half a cord of fire wood for $65 that was delivered to our house. While we do not have a fire place I think this stack of wood will last us long enough in our fire pit. I am thinking of making a proper fire pit when my back gets better, but for now this will have to do.

Hurt Back

It seems that all those warning signs that one sees on boxes showing you how not to lift with your back are on to something. While fixing a toilet on the park I decided to lift it with my back causing a good deal of pain.

I am now at SGMC awaiting the results of my xray so I can go home and enjoy my weekend.
